My (Refugee) Life

Film - Documentary

Details

The film brings human stories to the forefront and counters misconceptions and harmful narratives about the lives and ambitions of refugees in the UK.

Refugee employment charity Breaking Barriers had bold plans to create a campaign that challenged the public’s perception of refugees in the UK. Against the backdrop of negative stories in the press and the government’s hostile environment policy, the organisation wanted to bring those they support front and centre of this awareness campaign for Refugee Week.

We devised the concept for a documentary that followed a group of people rebuilding their lives in the UK. Alongside production we developed a training programme that enabled refugees to get hands-on experience as crew. For each member of our team we provided a trainee placement in that role. My Refugee Life continues to find new audiences and has received industry award recognition with wins the Charity Comms Awards and the SohoLiff AWARDS.
